Community Engagement Officers Role
- To act as a Communication Channel between hard to reach minority communities and the police.
- To Build Bridges and Confidence between minority communities and the police to encourage people to come forward and report incidents.
- To Spread the Word among hard to reach and hard to hear communities on how to report incidents and that support is available.
- To Support Victims of hate crime through the criminal justice system.
- To provide a Signposting Service of specialist support agencies for victims of hate crime and their families.
What is Hate Crime?
Broadly speaking this is:
'Any crime where a person's prejudice against an identifiable group of people is a factor in their choice of a victim.' These groups include: -
Disability, Race, Faith, Sexual Orientation, Gypsies and Travellers, Asylum Seekers and Refugees, Older People.

Contact the Police:-

- In person at any Police Station
