Neighbourhood Profile
Durham City policing area covers twenty-six small villages surrounding Durham City, the majority being former colliery settlements. The total population for the Durham district is about 90,200, with the university adding an extra 12,000 during term time.
The district has been traditionally split into three main policing areas, which are Durham City, Sherburn/Bowburn and Meadowfield/Framwellgate. There is a dedicated beat team covering each of these areas.
